From the highly-respected headset brand Poly (previously Plantronics), this headset's advanced active noise cancellation can cancel out unwanted ambient sound so you can better hear your colleagues or friends in your video conference. If you're fed up with background noise distracting you from important conference calls, the Voyager Focus UC headset is the answer. Overall, these sounded much better than we’d anticipated, and we can see no good reason why these couldn’t be used for other purposes than conference calls when the need arises. The only downside to these is how much they cost. Comfortable, easy to use, and effective noise cancelling. Gorgeously made and designed, the Evolve2 75 represent a pinnacle for Bluetooth headsets for business users. ![]() Our sister website TechRadar had this to say after extensively testing the Evolve2 75: ![]() There's even a 'busy light' on the outside of the earcups to tell passing colleagues (or family members) that you're on a call. Leatherette padded on-ear ear cushions have been sculpted to allow comfortable day-long use, and you get complete freedom to move thanks to Bluetooth wireless connectivity that enables up to 30 metres of roaming range. Even the mic boasts a respectable 30Hz-20kHz response. Sound quality takes center stage here, with the relatively large 45mm drivers tuned to deliver studio-quality sound something that's backed up by the highly impressive 5Hz-40kHz frequency response. Nothing will change visibly on the screen when you do this, but what happened is you inverted the selection so that you now have the background selected and not the foreground. Once you’ve done that, simply press Delete. Since you want to delete the background and not the subject, simply go to Select > Invert. If you created the selection by clicking on your subject, you’ll only have your subject selected. ![]() If you created the selection by clicking on the background, simply press Delete on your keyboard (or go to Edit > Clear if using Mac) and you will have successfully used GIMP to delete your image’s background to transparent. This will create a dotted outline around your subject known as a selection. You can add to your selection by holding Shift and clicking on another area, and you can remove unwanted selections by holding Control and clicking on them. Drag the cursor to the right to increase the size of the selection and to the left to decrease it. With the tool selected, click and drag on your subject to create a selection. You can fix it by either cutting the object from the image and putting it on its own layer with a transparent background, or if the image is saved in a format other than JPG, you can convert the image to jpg, then open it in GIMP and go about as normal.Grab the Fuzzy Select Tool by clicking on the icon highlighted in the above image, or simply press U on your keyboard. So the transparency is there, but you don’t see it. You should know that when you look at an image outside of Gimp, the image viewer may fill the transparency. Removing the white background after making an image background transparent in GIMP You may also need to work on the sensitivity of the selection to get as many of the pixels along the edge. Next, use the Levels or Curves tools to adjust the Alpha channel. Right-click on the layer > Transparency > Add alpha channel. You can then delete the original layer and save it as a new file type. Go to the main image, select > all, then copy and paste on the new layer. The default size will be that of the image. ![]() Choosing from the options allows you to blend the images.Īnother method you can try is creating a whole new image and making a new transparent layer. When you have two images in different layers, you can blend them together using the ”Mode” menu.Ĥ. As you reduce from 100%, the image becomes more transparent. The opacity setting is at the top of the layers menu.Ģ. Alternatively, you can choose this tool by clicking on the tool icon in the toolbox or by using the keyboard shortcut shift + O. The select by color tool also works well when you are outlining an image in Gimp.ġ. You can choose the select by color tool from the image menu bar tools, then go to selection tools and choose the by color select option. In contrast, the Select by Color tool selects all pixels, regardless of location, that are sufficiently close in color to the pixel you click on. However, the Magic Wand chooses contiguous regions, with all pieces connected to the beginning point by routes with no significant gaps. It operates similarly to the Magic Wand’s Fuzzy Select feature. The Select by Color tool allows you to choose portions of an image based on how closely their colors match. How to Make an Image Transparent in GIMPīefore getting started with making an image transparent in GIMP, you need to understand the Select by Color tool and how to use it. By the end of this piece, you’ll be well-equipped with all the information and skills necessary for making even the most complex transparency edits easily. We’ll also cover some other techniques that will allow you to improve your editing skills. In this blog post, we’ll discuss GIMP’s image transparency features and provide step-by-step instructions on how you can use this powerful software suite to make your image transparent. Are you looking for an easy and effective way to make your images more visually appealing? ![]() ![]() Let’s then find the limit of p as n approches positive infinity (to resolve the indeterminate form, we define N as 1/n and we use the definition of derivatives.)ĭepending on the unit we use, the limit l we find is different: Let the natural number n denote the number of sides of the polygon and the positive real number r the radius of the circle (angles are taken in radians) the perimeter of the polygon is then given by the formula : So when the number of sides tends towards infinity, the perimeter of the polygon tends towards that of the circle. The more sides this polygon had, the closer to pi this value was. We were told at school that the value of pi was firstĪpproximated by drawing a regular polygon inscribed in a circle and dividing its perimeter by the radius. Radians are not only convenient, in some cases they are the only correct choice. When you measure the angles between the whole number intervals on the spiral you will find that the angles between them approach 2 Pi radians. The next one is just as, if not more mysterious than the first. The further out you go on this spiral the closer this measurement gets to Pi. ![]() ![]() For instance when you begin this spiral and measure the distance between the coils you start out with a measurement that is very close to Pi. This spiral is easy to construct but it reveals some relationships that are very hard to explain. The first thing to look at to get a closer view of this is a math object called the “Spiral of Squares” There are a lot of things about this relationship that aren’t apparent at first. One radian measures the angle when the radius of a circle is traced out on its edge. Radians connect algebra to trigonometry to geometry like nothing else can. Why radians? I understand that the first commentator tried to explain but most probably lost you in the first paragraph if not sooner. It’s a lot easier to understand why if you look at a graph. Same thing happens when you differentiate cosine or tangent or whatever. It’s not the end of the world if you try to do calculus with degrees (it’s close), it’s just that the result is multiplied by an inconvenient constant. If it weren’t for the fact that (when using radians) we wouldn’t have. That doesn’t look like a big deal, but keep in mind that all of trigonometry is just a rehashing of sine. For example, one of the more important things in the world (that’s not quite sarcasm) is the fact that. All of the calculus around trig functions can be based on the fact that. When someone says “in the limit as _ approaches _” it means they’re about to talk about calculus (and true to form…). In fact, in the limit as the angle approaches zero they are equal, or in mathspeak. For small angles sin(θ)≈θ, but only when that angle is described in radians. ![]() ![]() ![]() Being able to brows by various categories other than simply the artist name makes stumbling upon something interesting much more likely, be it by genre, or year, or whatever. I think the benefit of Kodi is primarily to people with large (or huge) media libraries - like me for example, between CD, hirez PCM, needledrops, DSD and SACD rips (not to mention audio bootlegs and quad conversions etc.) I have somewhere between 50,000 and 100,000 tracks. ![]() ![]() but it makes scrolling through (and finding) individual artists and albums much easier than via the mouse/keyboard method. It's very responsive and easy to set up - no idea how it deals with playlists etc. ![]() I've posted about it elsewhere, but there's a really nice freeware Android remote called Kore that will turn your phone or tablet into a fully featured remote for controlling your Kodi. I agree to an extent, it seems like a lot of it is geared toward touchscreen interfaces. After I did that and updated my Kodi library, all the artists that were in the folder moved to their rightful spots. I think the only ones actually causing the problem are the and lines, but I highlighted all of them, right click, picked 'Remove' and then the 'Apply' button to save the changes. So I loaded some of the 'bad' files in to foobar along with some 'good' ones that were sorting properly, and the difference I discovered was that when I was tagging the files via mp3tag using the musicbrainz database, it was adding some extra metadata to the tags that wasn't really visible unless I selected the files, right clicked and picked 'properties' in foobar.Īs you can see below, below all the normal tag fields there are a bunch of added ones, in ALL CAPS between symbols. So I tried adding 'Album Artist' tags to the affected albums, that didn't solve the problem, I tried removing the 'Artist' tag and ONLY having that 'album artist' tag, that didn't work. I had a bunch of artists that I knew were properly tagged showing up in that grouping, even though I knew they were correctly tagged, and tagged using the same software and workflow as everything else I have. I add the 'Jimi Hendrix' album artist tag so it all sorts under the name Jimi Hendrix.ĪNYWAY, I digress. I had this problem too, and finally figured it out through a process of elimination - my music uses the 'Artist' tag only, or sometimes I will use the 'Album Artist' tag as well, like if I have one artist who used a bunch of names, I'll have the 'Artist' tag as the technically correct name, but then use the 'Album Artist' tag so they'll all group together - for example, for Jimi Hendrix Experience, Band of Gypsys, etc. The online user manuals seem more geared to video heads. Kodi sure looks slick but I'm not 100% sold yet, for the reasons noted. You can make it display sample rates, bit depths, channel number.though that does require some work in Preferences and a knowledge of metadata syntax. You can navigate it easily and intuitively using just a keyboard or touchpad. You can fancy up the GUI as much as you like, or use it in bare-bones text mode. Making a playlist out of a folder is simple. Clicking this does not take you back to the last screen in fact it doesn't do anything.Ħ) Is there any way to get Kodi to display the sample rate and bit depth of a file it's playing?įWIW, foobar2k is pretty intuitive you load your files and it shows everything. Bite me, Kodi!ĥ) Kodi sometimes likes to show a large folder icon with a back arrow in it. Kodi really really wants me to use its categories.Ĥ) Kodi doesn't like my tagging a bunch of files have been categorized into a 'Missing' folder as a result. (E.g., 'esc' doesn't do it and there's no 'minimize' icon I can see)ģ) Navigating around is.surprising. I have yet to figure out a way to do this without shutting down kodi. Sometimes I need to leave kodi to see something in, say, a browser. Music->Categories->Playlists->New Playlist-> ?Ģ) Kodi likes to hog the entire screen. I've tried three times now to make a playlist out of the *entire folder*, using the playlist creation tools, with no success. This folder is part of Kodi's music library as a 'source'. Examples:ġ) I have a folder of music on my hard drive called 'Surround', containing all my surround files. (Have no idea why)īad news: trying to use kodi with just a Win10 laptop keyboard/touchpad is almost hilariously non-intuitive. Good news: Kodi plays 88kHz files (stereo & multichannel) when I install and use it on a different Win10 laptop than the one I was using before. ![]() |
