He also stated he would be, “ flying back this afternoon” when pressed about his return to the state on February 18. “With school canceled for the week, our girls asked us to take a trip with friends,” the GOP Senator said at the time. Initially, Cruz said that he was simply escorting his daughters - Caroline, 12, and Catherine, 10 - to Cancún and immediately returning to Texas to address the ongoing lack of heat, power, and necessary resources throughout the state, with millions of Texans affected. The comments come nearly a week after photos of Cruz’s family boarding a flight at Houston’s George Bush International Airport to the glamorous destination surfaced. “Yeah, like, just, you know, treat each other as human being, have some degree, some modicum of respect.” “Here’s a suggestion: Just don’t be a**holes,” the senator said.
